At present most of foreign nationals are required to have entry visas to travel to the Russian Federation.
What is a Visa?
A visa is a document showing that a person is authorized to enter the territory for which it was issued, subject to permission of an immigration official at the time of actual entry. The authorization may be a document, but more commonly it is a stamp endorsed in the applicant's passport. The country issuing the visa typically attaches various conditions of stay, such as the territory covered by the visa, dates of validity, period of stay, whether the visa is valid for more than one visit, etc.
Russian Visa is delivered by the Russian Embassy (Consulate) in the state of applicant’s residence or work.
General Requirements for Foreign Citizens to Enter Russia
- Passport must be valid 6 months beyond intended stay
- Tickets and Documents for return or onward travel
- Russian Visa is Required
Steps to get a Russian visa in order to participate in the International Conference on Ricoeur Studies
- Please send the registration form and the scan of your passport (the page with a clear photo is necessary) to ricoeurmoscow2011@gmail.com.
- You will receive an official invitation letter by the Higher School of Economics by mail and by email. Please hold it when you arrive to Russia in September.
- Please precise if your country of citizenship has visa restrictions with Russian Federation.
- If it does, please find the nearest Russian Embassy to the place of your residence. Find the list of documents required for application for a Russian visa. A valid passport at the moment of application is required in all the cases!
- Submit the invitation letter and your passport together with other required documents to the Russian Embassy and they will issue your visa.
- Now you are ready to go to Russia!
Advice: It may take time to apply for a visa; therefore you are kindly requested to get all the necessary information about the terms as soon as possible.
